A Case of Primary Amylodisos Presenting with macroglossia

Abstract

|
The authors have experienced a case of generalized primary amyloidosis in 70 year-old Korean male patient. He was admitted because of swallowing difficulty, voice change & mild exertional dyspnea due to macrogdlossia.
The biopsies of tongue, kidney and rectum revealed Congo-red positive materials which showed characteristic-fibrillar structures on electron microscopy. The urine protein and immunoelectrophoresis presented characteristic pattern and bone marrow
examination showed reactive plasmacytosis.
